PATIENT INFORMATION

ABOUT YOUR VISIT
Preparation for your appointment

OBSTETRICS/PREGNANCY (1st Trimester only – up to 14 weeks of gestation):

  • A full bladder is required. 

  • One hour before the appointment, the patient must drink 2 (16 oz) bottles of water.

    • Should the patient feel like using the restroom, please wait until AFTER the study is completed.​

 

UPPER ABDOMEN:
Includes the liver, gallbladder, biliary systems, kidneys, pancreas, spleen, aorta, major vessels,

and retroperitoneal areas.

  • The patient must fast for 6-8 hours prior to the examination. 

  • Essential medications may be taken with a small amount of water.

 

PELVIC & LOWER ABDOMEN:
ï‚· Pelvic Transabdominal (TA):

  • A full bladder is required. 

  • One hour before the appointment, the patient must drink 2 (16 oz) bottles of water.

    • Should the patient feel like using the restroom, please wait until AFTER the study is completed.

ï‚· Pelvic Transvaginal/Endovaginal (TV/EV):

  • An empty bladder is required at the time of the exam.

    • It is okay to drink water prior to the exam, but must be avoided right before the appointment time. ​

* Should you be scheduled for both a Pelvic TA and Pelvic TV/EV, please follow the guidelines for the Pelvic TA exam *
